As many of you know, our theme last year was “You Belong Here” and while that will continue to be our ongoing message and goal, this year’s theme naturally follows last year’s with “Make Room”.
Because the truth is, belonging only comes when we make room for people to belong.
And I’m not talking about 6 feet social distancing room, although that’s a good mental picture! I’m talking about making room as in, pull up another chair at the table, open up a space in your friend circle, create space in your heart and mind for people, change, and ideas.
And when I say change, I’m not referring to the coin shortage that we’re hearing about everywhere these days 🙂 I think we can all agree we’ve had to make room for change in the past few months, and it seems we will continue to do so for awhile. The comforting thing to me is that I know that the Lord does not change…but He does do NEW things! So I can rely on Him to walk beside me, holding my hand as the Unchanging Constant One who will excitedly show me the new things He is doing and guide me in response.
For the Dancers…
So what does this mean for the dancers? It means we will be encouraging them to make room for new friends, to reach and connect with people that are not exactly like them (socially distanced of course 🙂 We will be encouraging them to make room in their hearts and minds for things to look a little different this year. We will be challenging them to make room for growth in their own personal lives and in their dancing. Our monthly devotions will follow these themes.
The biggest way we want to make room this year is for the Lord to come and do what He wants to do. These are the lyrics to the song “Make Room” by The Church will Sing that some of our company dancers will be dancing to this year, and they lead us into a beautiful place of peaceful surrender.
“
“Here is where I lay it down
Every burden, every crown
This is my surrender
This is my surrender
Here is where I lay it down
Every lie and every doubt
This is my surrender”
“And I will make room for You
To do whatever You want to
To do whatever You want to.”
For the Parents
So we ask that you will join us in “Making Room” this season. We know things will look a little different, we know there will be new faces to meet and connect with. We know that you need us to make room for you and all you are going through too. And we are committed to being here and doing that for you. Here’s to a wonderful season of making room!

so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 43:19
